Presentation:

Analyse the dynamic features of the process involved in the transition to a knowledge-based economy. Address contemporary challenges facing the European Union, its member states, its regions, its companies and its citizens in the transition to a knowledge-based economy and society. Integration among disciplines should favour both intra-disciplinary and cross-disciplinary developments addressing the following specific challenge: Knowledge is an essential and specific input in our economic systems; the central role of spatiality; organizational frames and governance; These scientific advances should help to address policy issues of urgent relevance to the EU: globalisation, enlargement of Europe; emergence of regions and the role of the nation-State, knowledge divide and inequality among regions.
