Research has focused on the role and impact of the financial system in contemporary societies, specifically on economic performance, income distribution, environmental sustainability, and on regulation of financial systems. Research has also been devoted to the analysis of the crisis narratives which have prevailed during the Portuguese "adjustment programme" both in the design of austerity policies and in their public discussion in the media.
