Presentation:

The Portuguese authorities responsible for the coordination, management, monitoring and evaluation of the ESF in Portugal have been involved in recent years in several efforts to improve the knowledge regarding the impact of ESF-related policies. The project intends to contribute further to this effort, by bringing together the main public bodies involved in the monitoring and evaluation of the ESF in Portugal (IGFSE and Observatório do QREN), public institutions responsible for vocational training and traineeship programs and/or the corresponding statistical data (IEFP, GEP, IISS, and DGEEC), as well as researchers from two Portuguese universities (University of Porto and ISCTE – University Institute of Lisbon) who have been involved in recently efforts to develop counterfactual evaluation on the impact of policies financed by the ESF in Portugal. This project is expected to lead to a more accurate and detailed knowledge of the impacts of vocational training and traineeships in Portugal. In addition, it will contribute to the development of knowledge related to CIE methods and practices among public agencies, academics, and the evaluation community in Portugal.
