Study defends greater collaboration between the Cultural and Creative Activities and Higher Education Institutions
Last Thursday, the 30th of May, in ISCTE-IUL, project 4H-CREAT presented the results of a study on the knowledge transfer policies between cultural activities and Higher Education Institutions (HEI). The study was conducted by the team from DINAMIA’CET-IUL, Centre for Socieconomic and Territorial Studies, which implements the project in Portugal under the coordination of the researcher Ana Rita Cruz.
The study sought to compare seven regions from five countries of the Atlantic Area in terms of their knowledge transfer policies as they relate to cultural and creative industries policy. Its analysis, which emphasised the regional differences in terms of both policies and practices, noted that all regions are lacking an active policy for these kinds of activities. Such policies, the study argues, are of particular importance given the high economic, cultural and social potential of these activities.
Some of the recommendations found in the study include giving the university a greater role in anchoring the sector-specific associative tissue. It also highlights the importance of developing schemes to enable academics to be actively engaged with the cultural and creative sector.
