Short Bio

Paula André has a PhD in Architecture from Iscte-Instituto Universitário de Lisboa and a Masters in Art History from FCSH-UNL. Professor at the Department of Architecture and Urbanism at Iscte - Instituto Universitário de Lisboa; director of the PhD in Architecture of Contemporary Metropolitan Territories; director of the Master in Architecture and Visual Culture in Lisbon; coordinator of the Architecture and Visual Culture Research Center in the PhD in Architecture of Contemporary Metropolitan Territories; professor of the Integrated Master in Architecture, of the Master in Cultural Studies and Management. Member of the Scientific Committee and integrated researcher at Dinamia’cet-iscte, having coordinated the Thematic Line “Images of Material Realizations” of the “Printed Photography. Image and Propaganda in Portugal (1934-1974)” Project. Project Member “Export Portugal. Cultural diplomacy and rebranding strategies of the Estado Novo in the United States (1933-1974)”. Coordinates the “Collaborative Laboratory Urban Dynamics, Heritage, Arts. Research, Teaching and Dissemination Seminar” in partnership with 20 national and international institutions. Member of the Editorial Committee of the Magazine “ARA”, edited by the Museum/Heritage Group of the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism of the University of São Paulo and the Magazine “Cities, Communities and Territories” edited by DINÂMIA’CET-IUL. Member of the Asociación de Historiadores de la Arquitectura y el Urbanismo (AhAU).
