Short Bio

Ivonne Herrera Pineda is an integrated researcher at DINÂMIA'CET-IUL. Her background is interdisciplinary: she holds a Bachelor Degree in Philosophy (2012), a Master's Degree in Social Anthropology (2013) and a PhD in Human Sciences (specialization in Social and Cultural Anthropology), all degrees from Autonomous University of Madrid. Her doctoral research focuses on urban communities, specifically on various mutual aid networks developed in a district of Madrid. This research observed the role of these collective processes in the construction of the contemporary city, emphasizing its capacity for resilience and social creativity. During her PhD, she enjoyed a research stay in Portugal, in the Centre for Social Studies of the University of Coimbra. This academic period contributed decisively to consolidate her interests in the social production of built space. She collaborated with diverse local communities, such as 15M movement, housing movement and urban gardens.
