Fernando Pires, born in Bissau, graduated in architect from the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism of the University of Sarajevo, 1983, Master in urban design from the Instituto Universitário de Lisboa, 1999, and a PhD in Portuguese Influence Heritage, branch of Architecture and Urbanism, from the University de Coimbra, 2017, with the dissertation “There are towns beyond the coast. Urbanization(s) in Cape Verde in the 19 th century”.
