Short Bio

I started studying sociology more than 15 years ago, in Coimbra, devoting myself mainly to social movements theory – first, in the Portuguese context; latter analisying the new social mobilizations that emerged around globalization processes. In 2005, I was elected to the Portuguese Parliament, were I worked for almost a decade, in several political issues – education, health policies, economy and legal system. In 2013, I decided to leave the parliament to return to scientific research – and I started a PhD project concerning urban policies in the aftermath of the Portuguese Democratic Revolution.
