Short Bio

Alexandra Castro is an integrated researcher of Dinamia’Cet, a Research Unit of the University Instituto of Lisbon and in the last 25 years she conducted several researches projects in the fields of Evaluation of social policies, Roma housing, Mediation, Inter-ethnic relations, Migrants, Poverty and Social exclusion. Regularly participates in training actions for social intervention technicians who develop their work within the Roma population and for the Roma Political Academy. Since 2013, she is a member of the Advisory Group for the Integration of Roma Communities and in 2019 she was elected as a member of the Advisory Committee of the Framework Convention for the Protection of National Minorities in respect of Portugal. In 2021 participated as a member of the working group for the Portuguese National Plan to Combat Racism and Discrimination (2021 -2025). Since 2016 she is Advisor to the Board of Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Lisboa collaborating in the design of social services and monitoring the execution of projects and programs. She is also author of several books and articles in the field of Portuguese Roma, poverty and social services.
