research interests

Sociology of work and industrial relations: collective bargaining and social pacts; labour market regulations and flexibility; social protest, trade unionism and new social movements; austerity policies and change in employment and industrial relations.

Short Bio

PhD in Sociology in ISCTE-IUL. Expert on Sociology of Work and Industrial Relations. Teacher at University of Coimbra from 1992-1995 and at ISCTE-IUL from 1995 to 2012. At the present, she is a Senior Researcher at the research centre DINÂMIA'CET– IUL, within which she has been a researcher since 1992. Correspondent of EIRO national team of the European network EIRO/EWCO of the European Foundation for the Improvement of Living and Working Conditions since 2006 and correspondent of EurWORK since 2014. Occasional collaboration, between 2007 and 2016 with the Department of Sociology of Copenhagen University, offering the course Globalization and Employment Relations in Europe. At the present associated researcher of FAOS, Employment Relations Research Centre – Department of Sociology of the University of Copenhagen. Member of the Editorial Committee of the journal Transfer: European Review of Labour and Research, since 2006. Member of the Editorial Committee of the journal “Revista de Derecho Social LATINOAMÉRICA, Editorial Bormarzo, Alabacete. Spain.

Activity under the EurWork network (2018) and for the following period (2018-2022). Coordination of the project REVAL (2018-2021) and coordination of Portuguese team of the project NEWEFIN (2018-2019). Editorial activity in scientific journals. Preparation of publication of chapter on Portugal in book to be edited by ETUI on collective bargaining in Europe (in 2019). Preparation of three scientific papers related with the results of project REVAL and with research at European level.

2018 (ongoing) – REVAL – From internal devaluation to the revaluation of work: the case of Portugal – Three years project funded by the Portuguese Science Foundation (Fundação de Ciência e Teconologia - PTDC/SOC-SOC/28811/2017), to be developed within the consortium between Dinâmia’CET- IUL and CES University of Coimbra. Coimbra.

2018 (ongoing) – NEWEFIN - New Employment Forms and Challenges to Industrial Relations – European project coordinated by Hugo Sinzheimer Institute/University of Amsterdam University – funded by the European Commission /DG Employment, Social Affairs (VP/2017/004). Two years project with the Portuguese contribution under the responsibility of CESIS.

(2017- 2018) – Industrial Relations in the European Metal Industry - coordinated by Trine Larsen FAOS/Department of Sociology/University of Copenhagen.

2015-2016 - The collective bargaining and representativeness of temporary workers in Europe – European project coordinated by Cesos Srl Impresa Sociale (Rome/Italy) – funded by the European Commission /DG Employment, Social Affairs.
