The issue of demographic aging is a major challenge at the societal level. While a researcher with interest in this subject I’m working on the issues of intergenerationality, ageism (stereotypes related age), as well as the use of technologies by older adults. The relationship between the technological world and aging is complex. If ageism has important implications in the way technologies are developed and commercialized, in contrast it can also contribute to the weakening of the negative impact of ageism. Technology can play a relevant role in the various domains of life of the older people such as: physical and mental health, social relations and daily activities and leisure. The use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) for this population can have several benefits, since it facilitates social interaction especially for those who live alone, enabling not only the acquisition of information but also the consultation of online services and the creation of new hobbies.

My research interests in the field of aging involve working with interdisciplinary teams. Therefore we think about social issues using different but complementary approaches, observing the society as a whole. As a member of the Governance, Economics and Citizenship group, that looks at research which is responsible and useful to society, I try to contribute towards these goals with my research on aging.
