Between 1974 and 1986 there were only two institutions to confer the degree of "architect" in Portugal: the "Escola do Porto" and its congener in Lisbon. The architectural culture of this period was clearly polarized; in fact, the contrast between teaching methods and the products of these options underlies such unique and important paths in the architectural culture that has been traced about democratic novelty. We propose to explore what constitutes, between the two geocultures, the object of study less sought and consequently more enigmatic, but not less significant for the construction of the History of architecture.
