This project investigates the role of technological platforms originating from science in variety generation and the mechanisms and processes by which variety can be effectively exploited, i.e. can be conducive of new market opportunities and industrial growth. Our goal is to address a key problem confronted by intermediate developed economies, where failure to achieve an effective exploitation of the new technological opportunities arising from science, translating them into variety of innovative activities, is a major bottleneck in the development of science-based industries.
